OCEANIDS 3rd Plenary Meeting Brings Partners Together in the Azores
The OCEANIDS consortium convened in the Azores for its 3rd Plenary Meeting, held on the island of São Miguel from 28–29 May 2025. Hosted by the Regional Directorate for Maritime Policies, the two-day event brought together partners from across Europe to assess progress, strengthen collaboration, and plan the next phases of the project.
The meeting took place at the Arquipélago – Contemporary Art Center in Ribeira Grande, offering a unique and inspiring setting for discussions on how Earth Observation can support climate adaptation in coastal regions. Presentations focused on project coordination, stakeholder engagement, communication and dissemination strategies, and the technical development of pilot activities.
A particular highlight of the first day was the guided visit to the Port of Ponta Delgada, led by Mr. José Jesuíno Coelho. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to connect OCEANIDS activities with local realities, deepening understanding of the challenges and priorities facing port authorities and coastal stakeholders.
On the second day, attention turned to the implementation of pilot actions, co-creation with end users, and the integration of technological tools being developed within the project. These sessions helped ensure alignment across work packages and reinforced the commitment to producing solutions that are both innovative and grounded in real needs.
OCEANIDS would like to express sincere thanks to the Azorean hosts for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation. This meeting marked an important step forward in our shared mission to develop inclusive, resilient, and data-informed pathways for coastal regions.
Stay tuned as we move toward the next project milestones and continue shaping the future of the blue economy.
