On June 12th, the OCEANIDS project joined forces with the VALORADA EU project to co-host a dedicated session at EXPANDEO 2025, the annual event organized by the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC).
Under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change: EO-based solutions for local and regional authorities,” the session gathered representatives from public authorities—spanning cities, regions, and ports—to address real-world climate adaptation challenges in both coastal and inland areas. The discussion focused on how Earth Observation (EO) tools can support local and regional actors in making data-driven, forward-looking decisions.
Drawing from the experience of OCEANIDS and VALORADA, the conversation emphasized the importance of user-driven, location-specific solutions. These solutions are key to empowering decision-makers with the insights they need to respond effectively to evolving climate risks.
OCEANIDS contributions included insights from its ongoing work on Climate-Informed Maritime Spatial Planning (CI-MSP) and the development of its Oceanids Decision Support Platform (O-DSP)—a central tool designed to integrate satellite and environmental data for practical use in coastal governance.
A big thank you to all who participated in this dynamic exchange of ideas. Let’s keep turning EO data into meaningful action and building more resilient communities together
